Cayo District

We offer vehicle tours to every destination in Cayo District and can arrange visits to the other districts as well. We insist on using the most knowledgeable and friendly drivers and tour guides, all licensed by the Belize Tourist Board.

Mountain Pine Ridge Vehicle Tour: Full or half day
A hearty breakfast and we're off to the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve for the day. We'll carry a picnic lunch and spend time at the Hidden Valley Falls (home of the endangered Orange-breasted Falcon), the Rio On bathing pools, and Rio Frio caves.

Bring binoculars, sunscreen, a hat, and walking shoes for climbing around giant boulders and a swimsuit for relaxing in the clear mountain streams.

River Rafting or Canoeing: Full or half day
We offer canoe trips down the Macal River, stopping at Ix Chel to visit the Rainforest Medicine Trail. You can take your time enjoying the scenery and birdlife along the river, and we will pick you up in San Ignacio. This activity is available as part of a full day package, continuing to Xunantunich or Cahal Pech.

San Antonio, Cayo: Half day or any part of full day
San Antonio is the only Mayan village in Cayo today. It is a picturesque little town set in the foothills of the Maya Mountains. It is best known as the home of Don Elijio Panti, world famous "bush doctor" and shaman. You can see numerous Maya mounds in the farmlands surrounding the community. On the edge of the village, visit small "art galleries" featuring slate carvings done by modern Maya with the inscriptions and pictographs of their forebears.

Belmopan, Blue Hole, Guanacaste: Full day
Guanacaste Park is a 50-acre preserve on the banks of the Belize River, which features an immense Guanacaste tree that survived the logging era. The park was developed by the Belize Audubon Society and offers 8 separate named trails. Each trail takes no longer than 30 minutes to walk. From there you will visit the nation's capital, Belmopan.  Conceived in 1965 after Hurricane Hattie devastated many government buildings in Belize City, the high ground and convenient location made it the ideal spot to build Belize’s new capital city, housing the country’s government buildings.  With a population of only 7,000+ people, Belmopan is the world’s smallest capital. With colorful vegetation and Flamboyant trees, some have called Belmopan the “Garden City” of Belize.

After touring Belmopan, you will travel down the Hummingbird Highway, perhaps the most beautiful highway in the country stopping at the Blue Hole National Park. The Blue Hole is a collapsed karst sinkhole where an underground river comes to the surface amid a rich jungle setting before continuing to an underground cavern. Approximately 37’ deep, and about 80’ by 300’, the sinkhole is a rich sapphire blue color and is quite suitable for a refreshing swim. A changing room and toilets are near the top of the stairs.

Caves Branch Tubing
Float by inner tube through a series of river caves. You will be driven to the site of entry on the Hummingbird Highway. Float through the caves, pick up by vehicle and return to Mountain Equestrian Trails.
